Writer A Day
These series began as a way to incorporate Black History Month into our ELA classroom during student teaching. The idea was simple: feature a different Black writer every day. Every author gets a slide with their picture, a sampling of their books, a bio, and a quote. The project has continued with Asian Writer a Day, Queer Writer a Day, Latinx Writer a Day, and a comprehensive Writer a Day series is currently in the works. These series have been featured in EdWeek, and they have been used by teachers and librarians across the country. You can access a handout about the project here, and you can read some student testimonials here.
